10月初，国际译联向世界各地的会员组织发出通知，征集2009年国际翻译日主题。征集时间截止2008年10月31日。业界人士如有好的建议（最好用英文或法文），欢迎致函中国译协秘书处（taccn@163bj.com），我们将代为转发国际译联秘书处。

国际翻译日于1991年由国际译联设立，是全世界翻译工作者的节日。为了纪念早期西方《圣经》学家、《圣经》拉丁文本的译者圣杰罗姆（347－420），翻译日定在他的生日，即9月30日。自1992年起，国际译联根据全球翻译行业的发展，每年提出一个翻译日主题，并在第一季度面向全球发布。世界各地的翻译组织和翻译工作者纷纷在这个节日举行庆祝活动，彰显翻译的重要性，表达职业自豪感。
