On your birthday

It is a fine day today, pleasant enough but just one of the 365 days of a year, nothing special for most people in the world. But for me, it is quite unusual. It was just on this day many years before that you came to this crowded world.

It is your birthday today, my husband. On this special day, I am so full of thanks to your parents and your family. They gave birth to you and brought you up for me. When I finally found you out I knew my heart and my soul had found a home.

When I sing “happy birthday” to you, I thought of one of your unforgetable birthdays given by your ex-girl friend. It is a pity that I am not your first, and I could not be a part of your past life, but I am thankful that before I found you, there was somebody to sing the birthday songs for you. Now I am here, my dear husband, and in many years to come, there will always be me to sing the birthday songs for you, each and every year. They might not be the most beautiful songs, but will surely be the most sincere, most touching and unforgetable ones.

Happy birthday, dear husband. In the days we have been together, we share all the laughter and  tears, all the sweetness and bitterness, love has always been the theme of our life. Since the moment you held my hands in our wedding ceremony, we’ve promised each other our deepest love, fullest devotion and tenderest care. We ‘ll have and hold each other, from this day forward, “for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness or in health, to love and to cherish ´till death do us part”.
